Our Mission

When animals are slaughtered, only about one-third of the processed meat is destined for human consumption. The remaining two-thirds are not considered waste material, but are products with multiple uses. 

 

Meat Industry Services 

CENTRAVO is a service company for the meat industry; offering ecological, economical and legally compliant recycling facilities for all slaughter and butchering products which are not used by the meat industry itself. CENTRAVO provides the necessary logistics for collecting all animal by-products and food. Collected raw materials are processed either in our own modern and future-oriented production site or utilized with partner companies. Traceability, hygienic collection and processing are ensured for all raw materials at all times. CENTRAVO’s example provides a role model to European markets. 

 

Partner with Agriculture 

CENTRAVO offers a fully comprehensive “Animals from the Farm” collection service for all agriculturally oriented service needs, while taking into account the different regional and cantonal requirements. CENTRAVO makes a large contribution to the prevention and eradication of animal diseases through its rapid and safe recovery response for dead animals. 

 

Public Awareness Service 

CENTRAVO assumes the important task of epidemic readiness for Swiss agriculture and in partnership with the federal government and cantonal governments. If animal disease breaks out in Switzerland, the company can quickly decide on the most appropriate ways to collect large amounts of animal carcasses; as well as how to utilize them in the most hygienic manner. Following an outbreak of animal disease, CENTRAVO either undertakes their own collection of dead animals and/or gives its full support to the cantonal / municipal collection points. 

 

As an intermediary between the authorities and the private sector, CENTRAVO assists in all matters relating to national waste disposal security management, to ensure Switzerland’s necessary autonomy in the event of border closures.
