Even if CENTRAVO is no longer a master butcher cooperative, it is and still remains first and foremost a service provider to the Swiss meat industry.

Founding of butcher union self-help organizations in Zurich, Basel and Bern for marketing slaughter by-products, mainly from hides and fats.
1964
Founding of GZM in Lyss; processing animal bones and offal; use of chemical solvents for degreasing ("extraction").
1974
Development of GZM’s capacity for processing of animal carcasses following abolition of steaming areas.
1990
Founding of CENTRAVO AG ("CENTRAl Sales Organization") by the three self-help organizations HFZ, Hides/Skins and Fat Ltd., Skins Recycling Basel, Fat Plant Basel, HAFEBA – Swiss Master Butcher Cooperative for Central Switzerland (GZM).
2003
Major investments in GZM’s exhaust air treatment.
2006
End of business activities in Basel. Gradual takeover of Marti Protein AG‘s business activities in Othmarsingen.
2007
Start up of GZM’s ABA wastewater treatment facility and the new air condensers.
2008
Founding of Swiss Nutrivalor AG for the international marketing of compatible slaughterhouse food products.
2009
Founding of Swiss Ecovalor AG for BIODIESEL+ commercialization. End of operational activities in Zurich.
2010
Founding of Swiss Feedvalor AG for livestock feed commercialization. Transformation of the Group into a holding company.
